He brought a recruiter in Belgium. The day is reserved for football training and the evenings... to outings with the girls... These are the first 25 minutes of the film, I won't say more. ---------------------------------A movie very touching! Of humour especially at the beginning of the film. We see the daily life where everything is not rosy, but this is the life... Benoît Poelvoorde in a dramatic role. A young actor who plays the role of the young footballer, gifted, Marc Zinga, screaming of truth. But, it's still a movie tragic on the recruitment of young athletes in Africa... A recruitment, in the history of film, where nothing happens as planned... I would have liked a different ending for this movie. I shed my little tear... A great moment of emotion! A must see! After the waters of the great Ponyo in 2009, it is the tower of the winds to be summoned in this last story of the studio Ghibli : The wind rises. A few years later, Jirō Horikoshi invented the infamous Mitsubishi Zero, the plane of the kamikaze during the war in the Pacific. Certainly this story is full of currents of air, and clearly, of the four elements, it is the wind which is the place of choice in the imagination of Hayao Miyazaki. In spite of these references to wind turbines and almost breaking with a past production very spooky, the story that we tell here, at length and in detail, Miyazaki has seriously and prosaically rooted to the closest to the real japanese before the war. So it's (still) a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the daily nippon (one of the couple's life for example, or even one, more rare to the screen, in the workplace, as Jirō is an engineer at Mitsubishi). You can find there (sharing the same!) the passion a little selfish and utterly blind to these scientists and engineers between the two wars, which produced the technology of the day after tomorrow, knowing very well what would be done tomorrow. The subject is sensitive and the subject could even pass for ambiguous, but it is remarkably controlled by Miyazaki, which avoids both hagiography that trial-to-load. We find rather the echoes of his previous films where the man wants to play the sorcerer's apprentice, and claimed to tame the forces of nature. However, as well as to better emphasize this connection, the film (after such images, we do not dare to speak of a ‘cartoon’, so much so that it would be simplistic!), the film begins and ends in the mass destruction : the terrible earthquake of Kantō in 1923 to the ravages of the war (with, precisely, these aircraft...). The wind rises (Kaze tachinu in VO) is obviously not a reference to Ken Loach (a story yet almost contemporary with that) but to a poem of Paul Valéry quoted in the film (in French please!) : The wind rises... we must attempt to live. Perhaps he see this as a sign of ‘kami’ : the beginnings of the project in the studio Ghibli coincided with the tsunami of 11 march 2011 (Fukushima). This movie almost a little too serious and applied, a breath of wind from the blow of heart, we can only regret may be a few lengths in those two hours (such as the move to the mountain hotel?) and a Joe Hisaishi that were found to be not very inspired in the violins (also is aging? !). With a few animated scenes, absolutely beautiful, worthy of the greatest filmmakers (those of the ‘real’ films) : like this meeting of Jirō with his girlfriend on the platform of the station - a sense of movement, the crowd, the stage, which is that we often forget that we are in a ‘cartoon’. In spite of the fact that this story looks very much like an artistic will, it remains for us to hope that Hayao Miyazaki has lied to us once again, that he still wanted to make her interesting, and, no, it does not already have a pension yet deserved and yes, we may be given yet another last great story before asking her pencils and her brushes. As Jirō, one can dream! So if you are curious about Japan or if you like (in bulk) : the stories of the aircraft, the stories of History, love stories,... watch fast the film before the wind rises. To note again :The magnificent seaplane multiplans transatlantic Caproni who capote in the lake Maggiore has existed : it was the Ca. 60 including the single prototype, alas, suffered the same fate as that of the film (this was in 1921).. Order was received quickly and in good quality! I loved this movie... a very good dvd that I recommend to the fan of japanimation! me I am this series since the beginning too bad this is so short 11 episodes only, for fans of video game and mmo. It is a shock to the face that this last film of Hayao Miyazaki. Despite the softness of the images, contemplative at certain moments of the film, bubbling when they depict the terror of an earthquake, the Wind rises is a film about the emergency, a fresco on the fear of regret, which does not look at but to be lived. The dream and its sequences to beautiful to be crying, the meetings between Jirô and Caproni seem to be here for the passage of relay between a father and his son, to his historical reconstruction of the Japan of the 30's, The wind rises is a wonderful love letter to cinema in its entirety, in everything it has to offer when he tells stories, whether they be magic or tragic. Miyazaki succeeds here in linking the two in a burst of crazy fluidity. The first sequence of the film, the dream of a Jirô facing his myopia, is itself the symbol of an entire film focused on the relationship of the characters to their problems and their ways of understanding. "We must attempt to live" will repeat us once again. Live for not to die, regret of what will eventually regret Jirô, working, dreaming to the maximum to leave a footprint of our existence.
